POTHOLES RESERVOIR, WASHINGTON

A_LINE.gif

Potholes Reservoir is located about 10 miles southeast of Moses Lake (the town) in the northwest half of the Potholes Reservoir State Park. This site is ideal for the whole family and provides opportunities to enjoy sand dunes, water sports and semi-private little islands. There are literally hundreds of small islands closely spaced over about 10 square miles of this section of the park. Shallow water keeps the motorboats at bay; and a shallow draft kayak or canoe is highly recommended. However, you can reach the island of your choice by wading. Although this site is not an "official" CO site, nude useage is increasing. There are no camping facilities, so be prepared to rough it if you decide to stay over night.

DIRECTIONS: Go west on I-90 from Moses Lake to exit 174 and follow the Mae Valley Road back over the freeway to a T-intersection and turn right onto the south frontage road. Travel about 2 and 1/2 miles to a gravel road just beyond the power line crossing (D5 NE). Follow the gravel road for about three miles to the lake. Explore and find your own private spot.

Yes, potholes is a wonderland for tan....but better yet is the SEEPS lakes to the north of O'Sullivan Dam. This is a wildlife refuge and you will drive for miles on gravel roads into this desert/sage bruch wonderland. It is full of small lakes that you can drive right up to and have the whole lake to yourself. I have spent mid week days here without seeing anyone. I have found a certain lake that is excellent swimming and camping. I will not reveal it because it is too fantastic. There are no facilities at all, camping is allowed at designated locations. Please bring ample garbage bags, all garbage has to be packed out. Please , no fires of any kind. It is far far too dangerous with the high winds and dry grasses. This is rangeland and cows abundantly roam. I have swam and hiked for miles in the buff for 4 days in a row without seeing another person. Eastern Washington is virtually an untapped paradise for naturists. See you next summer. (no name or address please)

I have been there, done that. Moses Lake to the north of Potholes res. is pretty decent too. We "dip" in the late summer months due to hungry mosquitos in the spring. Good for getting that "all around tan too!"
